Welcome to The Law Office of Ilana Tanner!

Growing up, Ilana always knew she would one day become a lawyer. Her mother and father are both attorneys and are both excellent examples of conscientious and dedicated lawyers. And though the relationship she has with her parents and younger brother is very close-knit, she decided to move to Austin in 2005 to attend the University of Texas. Ilana majored in Communication Studies and Government, while also managing to attend every home UT football game.

Ilana fell in love with Austin and decided to stay here for law school. While attending the University of Texas School of Law, Ilana completed internships at the City of Austin Law Department, the Travis County Attorney’s Office, the Travis District Attorney’s Office, and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. She also worked for multiple family attorneys and developed a strong interest in family law. Ilana completed two semesters of the Children’s Rights Clinic in Law School, where she represented children as an attorney ad litem in cases where the state was seeking termination of parental rights.

In her spare time, Ilana enjoys playing with her 120 pound Great Pyrenees Mix, Crockett, and going to the dog park and farmers’ markets. She enjoys trying new restaurants in town, and is an avid reader. On Sundays in the fall, you can always find Ilana cheering on the Houston Texans.

Our Team at The Law Office of Ilana Tanner

Priya Sivaraman

Priya was born in Gainesville, Florida to immigrant parents from India who always instilled in her the importance of valuing hard work and dedication to one’s community. In high school, Priya spent her weekends at debate tournaments around Texas and knew from a young age that she had a passion for the law.

Priya studied Political Science and History at the University of Texas at Austin and then remained in Austin after graduation to work as a paralegal at a civil litigation law firm specializing in Plaintiff’s right’s. In her spare time, she volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Travis County, Texas where she advocated for children in cases where the state was seeking termination of parental rights.

She attended the Texas Tech School of Law where she found her true calling. In her last year, she worked as a Student Attorney at the Civil Litigation Clinic where she represented low income individuals in the community who were in need of representation. She handled a variety of cases, including DTPA claims, social security disability appeals, and wills. However, she found the most enjoyment in her family law cases where she helped families maneuver through the most difficult times in their lives. Priya also received her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Rawles College of Business at Texas Tech University where she strengthened her understanding of complex financial issues.

Priya has been a licensed attorney since November of 2014 and is experienced in many matters of family law, including divorce, child custody, modifications, enforcements, and adoptions. Most recently, she was recognized as a “Rising Star in the Field of Family Law” by the American Institute of Legal Advocates for 2018.

She most recently added a new member to her own family, a five-year old Shepard/Lab rescue named Jadhu (“Magic” in Hindi). She hopes that Jadhu and her rescue cat, Lady Gray, will one day be friends.
